# Redeeming Loyalty Points for Specific Items

There are a number of methods your club can choose from to set up your redemption system. A common method is to setup a "**Loyalty Proshop**" where you have a series of items that can be purchased using loyalty points. For example, an 18 hole green fee can be purchased for 250 loyalty points. These items are setup with a price of $0 and a custom loyalty point value that is negative (for example, -250). Only customer with at least 250 loyalty points would be able to 'purchase' the green fee in this example.

 

Follow these steps to create an item that can be purchased using loyalty points:

1. Click **Admin**
2. Click [**Items and Departments**](https://www.tee-on.com/images/uploadedImages/LearningZoneImages/Page_305/ItemsAndDepartments.png)
3. Click [**Add Item**](https://www.tee-on.com/images/uploadedImages/LearningZoneImages/Page_305/AddItem.png)
4. Type a **Name **for the Item.  Press Tab three times to copy the Name to **Button Text**, **Receipt Description **and **Label Text**.
5. Set the **Accounting Reference**. 
6. Set the **Tax**.
7. Set the [**Item Type **](https://www.tee-on.com/images/uploadedImages/LearningZoneImages/Page_305/NonInventoryItem.png)to Non-Inventory Item. 
8. Click **Next**
9. Type a Retail Price- the Retail Price in this case will be $0.
10. Click **Next** twice
11. On the Other Tab, check the box for **Set Custom Point Value**.
12. Type in the Custom Loyalty Point Value- the Custom Point Value is a negative amount of points determined by how many points are required for the item to be purchased. 
13. Click **Save**

 

**Frequently Asked Questions**

 

**I have customers who already have points in my previous system that I would like to transfer over, how do I do this?**

 

To add loyalty points to customer's balance you will need to sell them an item with the point value you wish to transfer. If you create an item called "Loyalty Point Transfer", set the retail price to 0 and set the custom point value to the amount you want to adjust the golfers loyalty balance by. You could also set the custom point value to 1 or perhaps 10, and sell the customer several of the Loyalty Transfer to add up to their current balance - this would prevent you from having to adjust the sales item for each customer. 

 

**How do I remove points that a golfer should not have received?**

 

To remove loyalty points or adjust a golfer's balance you will need to sell them an item with a negative point value. If you create an item called "Loyalty Point Adjustment", set the retail price to 0 and set the custom point value to the amount you want to adjust the golfers loyalty balance by. 

 

**How do I type in a 'negative' for the custom point value?**

 

To type in a negative value, use the dash or hyphen symbol found beside the zero at the top of your keyboard.
