POS Server Post Installation Steps

Adobe Reader

 

If no Adobe Reader is found on the computer than Adobe Reader Version X will be installed as part of the POS installation. Depending on security settings of the computer the POS may not be allowed to open Adobe Documents.  To circumvent these problems perform the following

Adobe X – open adobe and click on “Edit” and then choose “Preferences” and then highlight

“Security (Enhanced)”. Uncheck “Enable Enhanced Security” and click OK

Adobe XI – open adobe and click on “Edit” and then choose “Preferences” and then highlight

“Security (Enhanced)”. Uncheck “Enable Enhanced Security” and click OK

If Adobe was already installed on the computer with a version older than Adobe X then you must upgrade Adobe Reader to version X or later

 

 

Antivirus

 

Many Antivirus programs provide real time scanning of folders and files that can slow down the operation of the POS. Exceptions should be put into the POS to prevent real time scanning of folders associated with the POS

 

AVG Antivirus

Click on settings and then highlight “Exceptions”

Select exception type of “File” and browse to c:\program files\teeon\pointofsale\bin (or where you installed the POS) and choose PointofSale.exe and click “OK”

Select exception type of “File” and browse to c:\program files\teeon\pointofsale\bin and choose PointofSaleServer.exe and click “OK”

Select exception type of “Folder” and browse to c:\program files\teeon and click “OK” and then click “OK”

Select exception type of “Folder” and browse to c:\MySQL-5.7 (or where you installed MySQL) and click “OK” and then click “OK”

 

Avast

Click on Settings

Click on “Exclusions”

Select browse go to c:\MySQL-5.7 (or where you installed MySQL) and click “ADD”

Select browse go to c:\program files\teeon and click “ADD” and then click “Save Changes”

 

McAfee

Click on "Navigation"

Click on “Real Time Scanning" - turn off real time scanning

Could not find a place to exclude specific folders.

 

Microsoft Essentials

Click on Settings

Click on “Excluded Files and Locations”

Select browse go to c:\MySQL-5.7 (or where you installed MySQL) and click “ADD”

Select browse go to c:\program files\teeon and click “ADD” and then click “Save Changes”

 

Microsoft Defender (Windows 8)

Click on Settings

Click on “Excluded Files and Locations”

Select browse go to c:\MySQL-5.7 (or where you installed MySQL) and click “ADD”

Select browse go to c:\program files\teeon and click “ADD” and then click “Save Changes”

 

Microsoft Defender (Windows 10)

Click "add an exclusion"

Click on “Excluded Files and Locations”

Click on "Exclude a Folder"

Select browse go to c:\MySQL-5.7 (or where you installed MySQL) and click “ADD”

Select browse go to c:\program files\teeon and click “ADD” and then click “Save Changes”

 

Norton AntiVirus

Click on Settings

Make sure the Antivirus and SONAR Exclusions sections is currently selected

On the right, click Configure for “Items to Exclude from Auto-Protect, SONAR and Download Intelligence Detection"

Click the down arrow beside Add and select Folder

Click the browse icon and select C:\mysql-5.7\ and press Ok and then OK again to close the Add Item Window

Repeat steps 4 and 5 and select C:\Program Files\TeeOn\ instead.

Click the down arrow beside Add and select Files

Click the browse icon and select C:\Program Files\TeeOn\PointOfSale\bin\PointOfSale.exe and press Ok and then OK again to close the Add Item Window

Repeat steps 7 and 8 and select C:\Program Files\TeeOn\PointOfSale\bin\PointOfSaleServer.exe instead.

Click OK to close the Real Time Exclusions window

Click OK one last time to close the Settings and close Norton Antivirus

 

 

Database Backups

 

It is very important that you take backups of the database that are created daily by the POS and copy them offsite

The backups are created daily by the POS and by default are stored in the MySQL folder. The default is c:\MySQL-5.7

They are named teeonpos-yyyy-mm-dd-hhmm.zip

 

 

Personal Firewall

 

The installation will add a rule to the windows firewall to allow traffic through ports 1099-1102. If there is a personal firewall installed on the server than it must also have a rule added to allow traffic through those ports or just disable the personal firewall.
