POS Running Slow
The first step is to determine whether all clients are running slow or only the client you are working on is running slow. This will help us focus on where to look for the source of the problem.
Performing some of these tasks requires some computer knowledge and you may need some help from your computer support person to resolve.
if just one computer is running slow than perform the following
====================================================
1) If everything on the computer is slow.
- Try rebooting your computer.
- Try disabling your anti-virus or antimalware software (make sure there are exceptions for real time scanning for the POS program, normally in c:\program files\teeon)
- Check to see if you are very low on space on your hard drive.
- Check task manager to see if there is a program that is using all the resources on the computer.
- Contact your Computer support person to help resolve.
2) If it is only slow while performing activities where something needs to print than focus on the printers.
- Look at the printer queue on windows to see if the print job is making to the queue immediately, if so than the issue is with windows and the printer. Your IT person would need to look at this. As a simple step you could try reinstalling the printer drivers for the printer.
- Try rebooting the computer.
- If the print job is taking a long time to get to the queue and then prints immediately, then there is an issue with POS. Please call Tee On.
3) If it is only slow while completing transactions to a payment terminal than focus on the payment terminal.
- Check if your internet is very slow (search on google for a speed test tool and run it - e.g. speedtest.net)
- Try restarting your payment terminal.
- Try rebooting the computer.
- Call you Payment terminal provider.
4) If everything you do on the POS is slow, but other programs are running fine.
- Try disabling your anti-virus or antimalware software (make sure there are exceptions for real time scanning for the POS program, normally in c:\program files\teeon).
- Most programs on your computer except your internet browsers do not need the network to operate. The POS requires communication to the server for most of its operations so depends heavily on the network.
- Check your access to the internet to see if it is responding normally.
- If you are running wireless try plugging the computer in using a wired connection.
- Try rebooting your computer.
if all computers are running slow than perform the following on the SERVER
==============================================================
1) If everything on the server is slow.
- Try rebooting your server (this will close all POS clients, make sure no one else is working on another POS client).
- Try disabling your anti-virus or antimalware software (make sure there are exceptions for real time scanning for the POS program, normally in c:\program files\teeon and c:\mysql-5.0).
- Check to see if you are very low on space on your hard drive.
- Check task manager to see if there is a program that is using all the resources on the computer.
- Contact your Computer guy to help resolve.
2) If the POS client on the server is running fine but all other POS clients are slow.
- This is very likely a network problem.
- Most programs on your computer except your internet browsers do not need the network to operate. The POS clients require communication to the server for most of its operations, so depends heavily on the network.
- Check your access to the internet to see if it is responding normally.
- If your server is on a wireless connection try plugging the computer in using a wired connection.
- Trying resetting your routers and switches.
- Try rebooting the server (this will close all POS clients, make sure no one else is working on another POS client).
3) If everything you do on the POS client is slow, but other programs are running fine.
- Try disabling your anti-virus or antimalware software (make sure there are exceptions for real time scanning for the POS program, normally in c:\program files\teeon and c:\mysql-5.0).
- Check task manager to see if the POS server program (pointofsaleserver.exe or mysql or any other program is using excessive resources.
- Trying resetting your routers and switches.
- Try rebooting the server (this will close all POS clients, make sure no one else is working on another POS client)
