Gift Cards Overview

There are multiple ways to sell and redeem gift cards with Tee On. You should choose which option(s) best suit your club.

 

Gift Cards can be sold in four different physical formats

  1. As a Physical Plastic Card with a preassigned number on the back of the card. This is the most expensive option as you need to have the cards produced and when selling in the online store will likely need to be mailed out. A less expensive version of the plastic card is a card stock business card (could be laminated) also with a preassigned number on the back of the card.

 

  1. As a Ticket produced from a Zebra ticket printer (Recommended printer is model GC420D) at the time of sale. You would need a Zebra printer as well as pre-printed tickets with your logo on one side and blank on the other. At time of sale we will print the information you have configured on the back of the ticket. 

 

  1. As a PDF that is emailed to the customer at time of sale. The customer can choose to just keep the gift card on their phone or they can print on a regular sheet of paper at home from their own printer. When coming into the club to redeem the gift card, they would show their phone (the club could scan the phone if they have a 2D scanner) or show the club the printed copy that can be scanned with a regular scanner. 

 

  1. Produce nothing, redeem virtually. When you sell the gift certificate it must be assigned to a profile and can be found as a gift certificate when bringing up that profile at time of sale. The gift certificate number is automatically assigned by the system. 

 

There are two types of Gift Cards

  1. Regular Gift Cards that can be used to purchase anything sold in your Point of Sale.

 

  1. Restricted Gift Cards where you can specify link the gift card to which items in your Point of Sale they can be used for. 

Both types of gift cards can be sold for any amount and can be produced in any of the above physical formats. Additionally, the format they are produced in can be different. You could use regular gift cards and Zebra Tickets for restricted gift cards.

 

 

Gift Cards can be sold in three different ways

  1. By choosing the Gift Certificate Sale button on the sales screen in the Point of Sale. 
    • You can only sell one of these in a single transaction and you will be prompted for the amount that should be loaded on the card.
    • This cannot be used to sell restricted gift cards.

 

  1. By choosing an item you have setup in your gift certificate department. By default you have a top level department in your Point of Sale called "Gift Certificates". 
    • You can setup as many items as you like with different amounts or you can set the item up as dynamically priced and choose the amount at time of sale.
    • These can be configured to sell as restricted gift cards.
    • You can sell multiples of these in a single transaction. You will be prompted at time of sale what profile to attach each gift card to.

 

  1. On your Online Store
    • You must choose items that have been setup in your Gift Certificates department.
    • You can sell both regular Gift Certificates and Restricted Gift Certificates
    • You can produce an email PDF of the gift certificate at the time of sale and send immediately to the customer. If you want to send the customer a plastic card or Zebra Ticket card later you must configure the gift card to not send email PDF at the time of sale in the Online Store. 

 

Gift Cards can be redeemed in three different ways

  1. By using the Gift Certificate Payment button. This method can be used for both regular gift cards and restricted gift cards. There is a Restricted Dollar Value Card payment button that can be used for Restricted gift cards but it can be hidden from the sales screen if you like. 

 

  1. From a customer profile. Only if you have configured the system to allow redemption of gift certificates without the gift certificate being present. When you select a customer on the sales screen that has one or multiple gift cards attached to his/her profile and hit the Gift Certificate button, a screen will come up with the gift card(s) attached to the profile that you can select to complete the sale. 

 

  1. By using the Existing Gift Certificate payment button Note: only use this for gift certificates you are tracking outside of the Point of Sale. (e.g. in an excel spreadsheet or other system). This cannot be used for any gift certificates sold within the point of sale.
