Label Printer Cutting Off (2" x 1" Labels)
If your label printer is printing inconsistently or cutting off labels, this is usually caused by incorrect calibration or the printer being set to Continuous mode instead of using label gaps. Follow the steps below to resolve the issue.
🔧 1. Calibrate the Printer (Most Important)
Calibration ensures the printer correctly detects where each label starts and ends.
Method A (Using the Printer Button)
- Turn the printer OFF
- Press and hold the Feed button
- Turn the printer ON while holding the button
- Release the button after it flashes twice
👉 The printer will feed several labels and automatically calibrate spacing.
⚙️ 2. Set the Correct Label Type
If the printer is set to Continuous, it will not recognize label gaps and will cut off prints.
In your printer settings:
- ✅ Label Type: Gap / Web Sensing
- ❌ Do NOT use: Continuous
📏 3. Verify Label Size in Printer Settings
Make sure the label dimensions match your actual labels exactly.
In your Windows or Mac printer settings:
- Width: 2.00 inches
- Height: 1.00 inch
- Margins: 0
⚠️ Watch for incorrect values like:
- 1.03"
- 0.97"
Even small discrepancies can cause alignment issues.
🖨️ 4. Disable All Print Scaling
Scaling can distort the print area and cause labels to cut off.
When printing:
- ❌ Fit to page
- ❌ Scale to fit
- ❌ Shrink oversized pages
- ✅ Scale: 100%
- ✅ Use: Actual Size
✅ Summary
If labels are cutting off, it is most commonly caused by:
- Printer set to Continuous instead of Gap
- Incorrect label size
- Missing calibration
Fixing these settings will resolve the issue in most cases.
