How to Set Up a Printer on Windows
This guide walks you through installing and configuring a receipt printer on a Windows device.
Epson TM-T88V Example
Step 1: Connect the Printer
- Plug in the printer power cable and turn it on
- Connect the printer to your computer:
- USB: Plug directly into the computer
- Network (Ethernet): Connect to your router/switch
Step 2: Install Epson Drivers
- Download the latest drivers for the Epson TM‑T88V from Epson’s website
- Run the installer and follow the prompts
During installation:
- Choose the correct connection type (USB or Network)
- If using network, enter the printer’s IP address
💡 Tip: If you don’t know the IP address, print a network status sheet from the printer.
Step 3: Add the Printer in Windows
- Open:
Settings → Bluetooth & Devices → Printers & Scanners - Click Add Device
- Select your printer from the list
If it does not appear:
- Click Add Manually
- Choose:
- “Add a printer using a TCP/IP address” (for network printers)
- Or manually select the Epson driver
Step 4: Confirm Printer Name
- Locate the printer in Printers & Scanners
- Take note of the exact printer name

Step 5: Print a Test Page
- Click the printer → Manage → Print a Test Page
- Confirm:
- Paper feeds correctly
- Text prints clearly
Optional: Set as Default Printer
- In Printers & Scanners, click the printer
- Select Set as Default
Troubleshooting (Windows)
Printer not showing up
- Re-run the Epson installer
- Check USB cable or network connection
Network printer not found
- Confirm IP address is correct
- Ensure printer and computer are on the same network
Test page fails
- Restart the printer and computer
- Reinstall drivers
