How to Set Up a Printer on Mac (Apple)
This guide walks you through installing and configuring a receipt printer on macOS.
Step 1: Connect the Printer
- Plug in and power on the printer
- Connect via:
- USB, or
- Network (Ethernet)
Step 2: Install Epson Drivers
- Download the Mac drivers for the Epson TM‑T88V from Epson’s website
- Open the downloaded file and run the installer
Step 3: Add the Printer in macOS
- Open:
System Settings → Printers & Scanners - Click Add Printer (+)
For USB Printers:
- Select the printer from the list
- Ensure the correct Epson driver is selected
For Network Printers:
- Go to the IP tab
- Enter:
- Address: Printer IP address
- Protocol: Usually “Line Printer Daemon (LPD)” or “HP Jetdirect (Socket)”
- Choose the Epson driver
Step 4: Confirm Printer Name
- After adding, note the printer name exactly as shown

Step 5: Print a Test Page
- Select the printer
- Click Options & Supplies → Utility → Open Printer Utility
- Print a test receipt
Optional: Set as Default Printer
- In Printers & Scanners, right-click the printer
- Select Set as Default Printer
Troubleshooting (Mac)
Printer not appearing
- Reinstall Epson drivers
- Try reconnecting USB or restarting the printer
Network printer not connecting
- Confirm IP address
- Ensure both devices are on the same network
Wrong driver selected
- Remove and re-add the printer using the correct Epson driver
Final Reminder
Once your printer:
- Is installed
- Has the correct name
- Successfully prints a test page
